Adriana Zanca

she/her

Tutor and Research Fellow in Mathematics and Systems Biology

Adriana Zanca (Age) research interests are broad – she is interested in describing biological processes using mathematical models. Her previous work focused on multicellular modelling of biological tissues, typically skin. During her postdoc with the Theoretical Systems Biology group, she has been thinking about branching process descriptions of cell differentiation, how to theoretically connect cell cycle to cell fate, how to define cell types, and more (e.g. mathematical modelling of cancer treatments and plant-fungi interactions). Age is particularly fascinated with spatial modelling over time, however, finds this very challenging!

Beyond Theoretical Systems Biology, Age also is very interested in education and outreach, and is conducting research about gender representations in the mathematical sciences. Outside of work hours, Age can sometimes be found walking her dog, attending Aussie rules football matches, bouldering, ranting and raving about Sparks and etceteraing. Age is always happy to have a chat about any of the above, so please feel free to get in touch with her.
