Masters Student
Emmy Brown is interested in the philosophy of biology, and have a background in developmental biology and pure mathematics. Her research has focussed on developing a method that can compare self-organisation across different models of life. She is particularly interested in developing mathematics that can model and capture biological agency and developing better frameworks to understand biological self-organisation and self-determination. Emmy is motivated by process perspectives of life, the philosophy of perspectival realism and the ongoing projects to naturalise organismic teleology.
Though she consider herself to primarily be a theoretical biologist, she likes constantly crossing the boundaries between mathematics, biology and philosophy. She also loves teaching and science communication and is proudly trans and queer.
