PhD Student
Joshua is a computational biologist at Cell Bauhaus and PhD student in the Theoretical Systems Biology group at the University of Melbourne (due to be conferred in 2025). His research is in energy-based models of bacteria for the purposes of whole-cell modelling. Specifically, using bond graphs to combine dynamical systems models with rigorous thermodynamic constraints and a graphical representation of biophysical systems.
Through his work at Cell Bauhaus, Joshua has expanded and continued his research interests in flux-balance analysis and thermodynamics.
Joshua graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), specialising in engineering science, and a Bachelor of Arts, specialising in mathematics. Prior to commencing his PhD, he worked as a data analyst and software engineer at an engineering consultancy firm in New Zealand.
Outside of work Joshua enjoys hiking, comedy, and eating good food.
