Yong See Foo

PhD student
Yong See is a PhD candidate in Mathematics and Statistics, and has been stuck at the University of Melbourne since 2017. He applies his training in statistics and programming to statistical inverse problems, focusing (somewhat begrudgingly) on computational implementation. In his PhD research, Yong See aims to develop search strategies for mathematical models of biological dynamical systems, with an emphasis on accounting for structural uncertainty. Outside of systems biology, Yong See also tackles research problems with statistical genetics, including spatiotemporal mapping of drug resistance, molecular correction for recurrent malaria, and bee colony density estimation. As an avid fan of classical music, Yong See enjoys playing the violin/viola in orchestral and chamber settings, and occasionally composes music for these groups.
