Syrine Ghrabli

She/her

PhD Student

Syrine Ghrabli is mostly a theoretical physicist who has tried on a few hats before ultimately finding a home in Melbourne alongside Professor Michael Stumpf.

Her curiosity lies in interesting interactions, randomness, or networks (in physics and in people). And is now seeking a new path in research, in topics that are bridging statistical mechanics and graph theory, that can be applied to the biological realm.

Before joining, Syrine completed a master’s with a focus in quantum information theory, and a master thesis on machine learning applied to clinical data in collaboration with Professor Kurt Wüthrich, then gained some practical experience as a data scientist/engineer for a start-up in the healthcare industry.

On a more personal note, she is someone who likes everything sea-related, windsurfing, fish, days at the beach… and someone who tries to stay active (stressing “tries”) through practicing yoga and jumping up and down to 150bpm.
